Specializing in Anxiety Treatment, Depression and Couples Therapy
Anxiety
Excessive worry continually. Anticipating the worse and can’t switch off that feeling.
Depression
Feeling of intense sadness and hopelessness.
Addictions
“All drugs that are taken in excess have in common direct activation of the brain reward system, which is involved in the reinforcement of behaviors and the production of memories” (DSM-5 APA 2013, p.481). Hence one’s normal activities may dwindle in favor of quick fixes for a “high.”
Couples Therapy
Does your marriage feel boring? Are you building resentment, grudges? Are you engaging in domestic violence even? Are you in an equal power relationship? Do you feel cherished and valued? How is your intimate life? Has passion dwindled? Are you willing to work hard at building that long-term committed relationship for which you once hoped? Relationships are built. They don’t just happen. How empathetic are you? If any of these questions apply to you, then let’s connect. We are familiar with the well-researched Gottman method. Gottman claimed he could tell whether a marriage was going to work within the first 5 minutes of meeting a couple.
Trauma
Exposure to a stressful event, resulting in corresponding mood or behaviour changes.
Adolescent Therapy
Adolescents are a different breed. They are going through so many life changes both physically and mentally. As one may observe, these changes may start and end variably in the population and puberty can begin anywhere from 10 yrs. old to even as late as 15, and it doesn’t always terminate at legal adulthood age of 19. “The Canadian Paediatric Society believes that a definition of adolescence based solely on chronological age is unjustified and impractical. The Society favours a more functional definition based on the biopsychosocial readiness of young people to enter adulthood.”.(https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2794325/ )
