Heather Faris

Animal Communicator, Distance Intuitive Healing

Heather's experience as an Intuitive and BodyMind Practitioner provides a strong foundation for her Animal Communication. She was in private practice as an ARC Bodywork Therapist for over a decade and is a cofounder of The Healing Space in Calgary, AB, an inspiring centre for holistic practitioners. In 2010 Heather began her professional career as an Animal Communicator and has since dedicated her practice solely to Animal Communication and Distance Intuitive Healing.

Heather first studied Animal Communication in 2000 with Georgina Cyr and later Penelope Smith. Since then her work has continued to evolve out of a commitment to her own creative healing process and spiritual journey. Over the last twenty five years she has studied and explored various healing arts including Hakomi, Authentic Movement, Qi gong, Shamanism, Creative Visualization and Journey Work.

Heather currently teaches Animal Communication workshops in BC and Alberta and communicates with animals worldwide. She offers Animal Communication and Intuitive Healing for people and animals by distance and is committed to facilitating ways for people and their animal companions to live more embodied, heart-centered lives.

Heather is passionate about working in circle and uses it as a creative vessel to facilitate her workshops. She honors the richness of our individual and collective worlds and is committed to witnessing these spaces with deep respect and sacred acknowledgement.

In 1997 Heather earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Victoria.  It was there, after an initial exploration in painting and drawing, that she found her true voice in expression of spirit through nature-based sculpture.

Heather  continues to engage in practices that facilitate her desire to have her intuitive gifts be of service to all beings. Her recent studies include Ancestral Healing, Systemic Constellations and Higher Consciousness Practice.

Katie is an Intuitive Craniosacral Therapist with over 20 years of experience. She believes that health and wholeness is our true essence and is maximized by releasing, realigning, reenergizing , not only our bodies, but our hearts and minds. Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, light touch technique developed by an Osteopathic surgeon, in the late 1960’s, to alleviate a wide range of problems such as:

  • Headaches, migraines, sinus problems

  • Jaw Pain/TMJ, shoulder, neck and back pain, sciatica

  • Falls, injuries, whiplash

  • Panic Attacks, overwhelm, depression

  • Postural Strain

Katie’s sessions are deeply relaxing and powerfully effective as she uses both a thorough analysis and intuition to help you uncover the source of why your body is reacting the way it is. Past injuries, repetitive motion, work postures, and stressful life situations, are all factors she addresses to bring your body and mind back to “healthy thoughts”, balanced energy, proper movement/function and physical comfort.

Some clients feel Katie’s innate spiritual ability, to align, clear, and reenergize the body’s natural energy system is her greatest gift, whereas other clients appreciate her unique way of aligning the physical body.

Through experience, Katie has found having 1 session a week for 4 weeks
is a powerful and effective way to move back into health. Each clients is then reassessed.

Note: Craniosacral/Massage Therapy fees are covered under most
Health Insurance plans.

Val believes that the relationship established with the client is paramount in facilitating client growth and helping the client to recognize their own strengths and resources. She is an eclectic professional who uses approaches relevant to each client and regards herself and the client as a team who work together. Val previously facilitated groups addressing family violence issues.

Play Therapy:

Using adult techniques is not appropriate with children. Their main mode of communication is play, a serious business for them. Play fits in what we call depth psychology. Subconsciously we convey a lot by our non-verbals and our selection of symbolic objects for our play. Play can be a huge metaphor of life. Special training is required to utilize play therapy. Val has been working via play therapy with children for 14 years, and the innate intelligence of children, their subconscious understandings and ability to self-heal through play continues to amaze her.

Best progress is with parents “on the team,” not being intrusive but prepared to also learn by filling the role of a “therapeutic partner” when appropriate. Child ages most appropriate are 3-12 years, but expressive arts such as drawing, painting, clay work, writing, movement, sound and sand-tray are appropriate for older children and adults as well. What is a song, but an expression of the composer’s inner life and feelings and opinion? Val is trained in Expressive Arts too.

Many adults have lost their playfulness and are reluctant to “let it all hang out.” Don’t worry! No one will ever force you to be “expressive.” Val follows your lead.

Family Constellations:

First conceived by Bert Hellinger, family constellations, when explored, give us clues to some of the emotionally  upsetting experiences,  misunderstood problems  and traumas we may be suffering. The amazing and intriguing notion is that we may be unconsciously living out the unresolved traumas of our past family generations, dating back as far as our great grandparents and beyond.  This type of therapy, drawing on the science of epigenetics and neuroplasticity, goes deep. Reference: Mark Wolynn. (2016). "It didn’t start with you. How inherited trauma shapes who we are and how to end the cycle."

Val has recently completed research on the experience of women recovering from hip replacement surgery. More information on her work is available here .
